FRAMES FOR THE DOORS AS DETAILED ABOVE ARE REQUIRED TO BE BACK FILLED TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF AS1905.1-2005

Previous revisions of this standard allowed for frames in certain circumstances to be unfilled but due to more stringent testing under AS1530.4, it is now required for all fire resistant frames to be backfilled if certified in accordance with the provisions of AS1905.1-2005 unless evidence of a test or opinion in accordance with AS1530.4-2005 can be provided to support the installation.

If you have existing installations that pre date 2005 and would like to find out the requirements at that time we would recommend you seek the advise of a fire engineer or building certifier or contact your fire services provider who may be able to assist.
